RPR-220 Infrared Reflective Sensor

RPR-220 is a reflective photosensor that uses infrared light to detect the color and distance of the reflecting surface. The sensor consists of an IR-LED and a phototransistor, mounted side-by-side. When an object is placed in front of the sensor, the light from the LED is reflected back to the phototransistor, which then starts conducting. The plastic lens enables the detector to be highly sensitive which makes it very useful in compact disk players, copiers, and office automation equipment.
