The general The AS3935 is a fully integrated lightning sensor IC that can be programmed to detect the existence and approach of potentially dangerous lightning activity nearby and estimate the distance to the storms centre. To eliminate any potential artificial disturbances, the inbuilt lightning programme examines the incoming signal pattern. With the noise floor generator and noise floor assessment blocks, the AS3935 may also offer information on the noise level and alert an external device (such as a microcontroller) in case of high noise situations.
