This breakout board is for the CD74HC4067, a 16-Channel Analog/Digital Multiplexer/Demultiplexer that is incredibly useful. The common pin (COM in the schematic, SIG on the board) is internally routed to one of 16 channel pins by this device, which functions like a rotary switch (CHANxx). The connections operate in either direction and it supports both digital and analogue signals (the voltage cant be higher than VCC). Connect 4 digital outputs to the chips address choose pins (S0-S3) in order to operate it. Then, send the desired channels binary address to it (see the datasheet for details). This enables you to use only 5 pins to connect up to 16 sensors to your system!
